As we leverage our collective global design intelligence to envisage ‘what a future society could be’, we must not underestimate the effort and discipline required to design the roadmap to get there. This address will challenge the audience to question if a refocus of our design effort is needed, to ensure we hold ourselves accountable for the delivery of a future where all are benefiting from design. The shifts the design community will need to consider will be proposed, to ensure we move from envisaging ‘what might be’, to how we design our way there. Practical steps the design community can make today to start this transformative journey will be outlined.
